When we should be enjoying our freedom together, we are being forced further apart.
It’s been a really, really strange time.
To say the least.
Now that we have more of our freedoms back and what we need as humans is to unite, we seem to be more divided than ever.
We are divided in body, mind and spirit.
Divisions of religion and race.
Left and right.
North and South.
Pro-Vax and No-Vax.
Pro-mask and No-Mask.
Many times we choose our sides and then defend our position by attempting to make the other wrong.
This is essentially a definition of war.
So, maybe, we are at war, albeit a very personal and internal one.
We are at war with other people, other beliefs, other behaviours.
And, as Edwin Starr sang, “War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing.”
The most deadly weapon of any war is fear.
When we look around at the world we live in today, fear is prevalent like never before.
It’s all over the mainstream media.
It’s on the faces of the people on the streets, literally.
Fear sells papers and drives ratings.
Fear changes our behaviour and makes us do things we wouldn’t ordinarily do, buy things we don’t really need, and imbibe things that aren’t all that good for us.
And, most poignantly, when we are frightened there is little space for love in our hearts.
We have to work much harder to let love in.
But, it is love we need in our lives right now.
Be more like Lenny; early on in his career Mr Kravitz sang, “Let love rule.”
So we have to be vigilant to see where fear has crept in to our hearts and minds.
We can’t allow other people to tell us what we should or should not be scared of.
We need to decide that for ourselves. We are the guardians of our own wellbeing.
So, as Basement Jaxx asked us, “Where’s your head at?”
